Overview
I built the website for YOUNGESTGEXCHANGE Ltd, a fintech startup company based in Cameroon.
The project involved designing and structuring the site using WordPress templates, customizing it to match the business goals and brand tone, developing a custom plugin for live currency conversion, and adapting the company’s content for web clarity and engagement.
Work Involved
- Website Build & Customization: Developed the full website structure and navigation using a flexible WordPress template, tailored to fit the company’s branding and user flow. Configured key pages such as Services, About, and Contact to provide a professional and intuitive experience.
- Copywriting: Adapted the client’s raw business descriptions into clear, web-appropriate content that reflects their service offerings and builds customer trust. Ensured tone consistency and readability across all sections.
- Custom Plugin Development: Built a PHP and JavaScript plugin to fetch real-time exchange rates via the ExchangeRatesAPI. The plugin uses AJAX for instant updates and includes a secure WordPress admin dashboard where authorized users can manage conversion margins and other settings. The custom plugin includes two widgets: an exchange rate calculator for live conversions, and a currency list by country displaying rates based on a selected base currency.
- Custom User Role: Created a dedicated WordPress user role to safely restrict access to plugin controls and prevent unauthorized changes.
- Domain & Hosting Guidance: Assisted the client in purchasing and configuring their domain and hosting plan, ensuring a stable setup and smooth launch.
- Performance & SEO Optimization: Implemented basic SEO, caching, and speed optimizations to enhance performance and visibility on search engines.
- Maintenance & Security: Set up automated backups, plugin updates, and uptime monitoring to maintain reliability and long-term stability.
Outcome
The YOUNGESTGEXCHANGE website now presents the company’s services with a clear, credible, and professional online presence. It provides useful information to clients and users while supporting the startup’s brand identity and helping build trust and confidence among potential customers.
The live exchange-rate plugin was developed and fully integrated during the project. Following internal adjustments to the company’s systems, the live exchange-rate plugin developed for the site is currently disabled at the moment. However, similar functionality remains accessible to users through other platforms managed by the business.
